We have developed many specialised fabrics with our manufacturing partners across the globe, using our expertise in the market combined with their advance technical manufacturing process. We stock fabrics suitable for just about all transport, leisure or sporting market. Our range consists of premier LYNTEX (R) fabric used on the most technical of projects, where superior strength and FR are required. Our HYTEX(R) canvas's have a much wider usage, where water resistance, flexibility and price are the key drivers. Just ask for a set of swatch fabrics.
Uses: Marquees, Scout tents, yurts, boat covers, tarpaulins.
All cotton canvas and polycotton fabrics should be weathered prior to first use. The tarpaulin, cover, sail or tent (whatever the usage) should be soaked (with heavy rain, or hose pipe, and left to dry. Pay particular attention to seams and stitching. This will allow the fibres in the weave of the fabric to swell and as the fabric dries the fibres contract to a tighter, weatherproof weave.
After a few months or years (very dependent on use and exposure to wind & sun), the fabric should be treated with a waterproofer, and / or a waterproofer / UV combination, such as products from Nikwax, Grangers or Stormcare. You need to keep the canvas as supple and moist as possible to keep its natural breathability and waterproofing properties, for as long as possible.
Lengths: the majority of our canvas's come in standard 100m rolls, but as the finishing is not an exact science some may vary. However we will only charge you for the exact lengths shipped.
Abbreviations:
FR - Fire Retardant. All fabric that has a FR reference are tested to BS 5438
FWR - Fire Retardant / Waterproof / Rotproof
SDC - Standard Dry Chemical (a protection solution to add performance and longevity to the fabric
Ripstop - there are strands of reinforcement woven into the base fabric to add strength and longevity
RW - Rot & Weatherproof Treated
